The library is closed on New Year's Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day. The library closes at noon on New Years Eve.

Library Information

Parking Free parking is available in the library parking lot and on Division Street and Lynn Avenue.

Copier A self-service photocopier is available in the library for public use. Rates are 10 cents per copy, paid at the circulation desk.

Fax Machine Send: $2 first page, $1 each additional page.
                         Receive: $1 per page.

Internet Access Six computers are available for public use of the internet and word processing. Patrons are allowed up to 60 minutes of time each day. Patrons must sign and agree to abide by the established Internet policy. Children under 18 must have parental permission to use the Internet.

Wi-Fi Altoona Public Library offers free Wi-Fi for patrons. 

Tours Tours for school classes and other groups are welcomed. To schedule a tour, contact the Youth Services Librarian.

Volunteers The Altoona Public Library Volunteer Services Program supplements the efforts of paid library staff to provide quality library collections, services and programs; serves as a method for area residents to become familiar with the library; and creates opportunities for individuals to feel personal satisfaction while performing a valuable service for the community. Friends of the Library The Friends of the Altoona Public Library support the library with their time, talents, and gifts. Friends activities include fundraising, volunteer work, publicity and promotions, working on the newsletter, and assisting with special events. The Friends help to sponsor library programs and supplement collection development funds. Memberships are available at the following levels:

Individual $5.
Family $10.
Organization/Sponsor $25.
Life $100.

Gift Policy Donations to the library are accepted at the discretion of the Library Board. Cash donations for memorials will be recognized with a bookplate in the front of the book. Contact the library director for more information.

Library Cards

Free library cards are available to all Wisconsin residents. Children under the age of 18 need a parent or a guardian's signature. Proof of current address, such as a driver's license, state ID, or utility bill showing name and address is required.

Renewals

Most materials may be renewed twice. Exceptions are videotapes and books with reserves, which may not be renewed. To renew an item, you may call the circulation desk at 715-839-5029, bring in the item, or renew it online through the MORE online catalog.

Fines

Fines are charged at a rate of 10 cents per day for books, magazines, and books on tape. The fine for late videos is $1 per day. You can check your patron records to see if you have fines through the MORE Online Catalog.

Reserves

Materials held by the Altoona Public Library, but not on the shelf, may be reserved. Ask a staff member for assistance. You may reserve a book in person, over the phone, or online through the MORE Online Catalog.

Interlibrary Loans

Materials not owned by the Altoona Public Library may be available from another library. This can be checked in person or online. If you have questions, please feel free to ask a staff member for assistance.
